Grad Student
Gheethan’s Paper Awarded
Ahmad Gheethan has earned an Honorable Mention and a monetary
award in the Student Paper Contest for the 2009 IEEE International
Symposium on Antennas and Propagation.
Gheethan’s paper is titled ‘The
Design of Reconfigurable Planar Log-Periodic Dipole Array (LPDA) Using
Switching Elements’, and his advisor is Dr. Dimitris Anagnostou.

Department of
Defense Equipment Grant
The Army Research Office granted $224,000 for Antenna research
equipment. The new instruments will
allow the measurement of reconfigurable antennas and microwave components
for modern communication systems.

Prof. Keith Whites, Mr. Anthony Amert (research engineer III), and Dr. Dimitrios
Anagnostou received funding from the National Science Foundation for their
project entitled “Multi-Scale Artificial Dielectric Materials and Their
Applications.”

SDSM&T Takes 1st
In just its fifth year of competition, the South Dakota School of Mines
and Technology captured first place in the Aero Design West
remote-controlled airplane competition in Fort Worth, Texas. (more)

UAV Hoping to Repeat
The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Team will be competing in Georgia at the
IARC competition later in July. Last year the team came home with $2400 and
